Siemens VDO Honored by General Motors as a 2006 Supplier of the Year
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 9 -- Siemens VDO was presented the General Motors 2006 Supplier of the Year award for its overall business performance in providing GM with world-class parts and services. The 15th annual award, themed the "Best of the Best," was given during ceremonies Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fla.
"We are proud to honor Siemens VDO as one of the 'Best of the Best' GM suppliers in 2006," said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "Siemens VDO achieved the award based on outstanding performance in 2006. We appreciate their energy, hard work and dedication to the success of GM."
GM selected Siemens VDO as a 2006 Supplier of the Year award winner in Vehicle Information Displays for Instrument Clusters, as a result of the global performance, flexibility and customer commitment of its Information Systems Passenger Cars (IP) division.
"This is a great achievement for our IP division," said Siemens VDO Vice President and Key Account Executive Kregg Wiggins. "Our clusters and displays team demonstrated excellence to GM in quality, service, technology, price and Tier 2 supplier management."
The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 89 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2006.
Siemens VDO is a leading international automotive electronics and mechatronic supplier. The group is part of Siemens AG and generated sales of $12.120 billion (euro 10.017 billion) in the 2006 business year (ending Sept. 30).
