RACING VENUES - BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY SEASON OPENS ON APRIL 13, 2007

BLOOMINGTON, IN (April 8, 2006) - Have you had enough winter yet? Us too! It's time for nice weather and dirt track racing. And, the competitors are even more ready to go racing than we are. Our opening night program will be the first of our Bonus Nights. The Safety-Kleen Sprint Cars will be racing for $1700 to win; and the O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds and the Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks features will each pay $700 to win with proper decals. Bloomington Speedway is opening with the three classes that will form the basis for our competition all season. There will be shows over the course of the season where one of the classes won't be running; but they will certainly provide the base on which our racing programs will be built. The facility, as well as the program, will be ready for competition on April 13. The track will be smooth. The rest rooms and concession stands will be clean; and the staff will do everything possible to see that the program keeps moving. Last season, Kevin Briscoe came back to win an unprecedented fifth Bloomington Speedway Safety-Kleen sprint car championship. He'll be back at Bloomington Speedway this season with an opportunity to win a record sixth sprint car championship and a record fourth straight. We've all seen how Briscoe can dominate the competition when he's on his game. And he almost always is on top of his game. However,at the HARF awards banquet Kevin indicated that he would probably be cutting back on his racing schedule to help his son get his racing program started. Whether or not Kevin runs for the championship, you may rest assured that there are a number of drivers who will be gunning for him or whoever happens to take the early lead this season. Watch for Chad Boespflug. He is a 19 year old sprint car driver who has just moved to North Vernon, Ind. from Hanford, California. His grandparents, Bob and Phyllis Gatten are Columbus, Ind. natives; however they have been living in California. Bob is Chad's car owner and Chief Mechanic. When they began to see how talented Chad was, they gradually began making plans to return to Indiana and give Chad a chance to follow Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart into professional auto racing. Chad won the SCRA championship in 2005 and he ran a strong season last year in the tough USAC/CRA sprint cars. One of their goals for 2007 is to win the Bloomington Speedway Safety-Kleen Sprint Car championship. They raced at Bloomington during Indiana Sprint Week last season; and they have some idea of what they're up against. Whether they win the championship or not, it will be great fun watching them try. Kent Robinson will be back attempting to win his second straight O'Neal Wood Products modified championship. Of course, the modified pits are generally full and there will certainly be a lot of racers intent on stopping Kent's efforts to repeat his championship. However, they had better bring their lunch as they will have an all day job on their hands. Jeremy Hines drove to a strong Tire & Wheel Center Super Stock championship last season. He is expected to run for a second championship; however, he too is likely to experience strong competition from the likes of Ben DuBois, Greg Kendall, Chris Deweese, etc. Don't miss the first lap on the race to the 2007 series championships. Plan to be with us on April 13 to see the best racing you'll see anywhere. Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $12 for this event, (Children 12 and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $25. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.

4th ANNUAL ELLIOTTBRAND CLASH

This season, one of our most popular races will come only two races into our schedule, on April 20th. During the winter of 2003-2004 Steve Elliott was given the project of designing a new website for us. Since one of his earliest projects was to design a website for Derek Scheffel, he was already pretty familiar with Bloomington Speedway. And the more that he worked, the more excited he became about Bloomington Speedway and our racing program. By the time that he finished our website, he knew that he wanted to become more involved. In 2004 he sponsored the first Elliottbrand Clash; and he enjoyed the participation so much that he immediately began making plans for the 2005 Elliottbrand Clash. He raised extra prize money, a lot of contingency awards, and lap prize money. Jon Stanbrough took home the lion's share of the loot last year; however, that was a practice that continued most of the season. Whenever the Fox brothers rolled that black and white sprint car off of the trailer, it would generally wind up in victory lane. They may or may not pick up where they left off last season; but whoever holds the hot hand in 2007, they'll probably be at Bloomington Speedway on April 20. Over the past couple of years Elliottbrand has pretty much become the gold standard for websites for racers, racetracks, and racing equipment manufacturers. This year he has again enlisted their support for the 3rd Annual Elliottbrand Clash. Motorsports Management again signed on to be the presenting sponsor for the event and to add $1,000 to the winner's slice of a very rich pie. In addition, all 30 laps will pay lap prize money back five places (1st - $30, 2nd - $25, 3rd - $20, 4th - $15, 5th - $10). Hoseheads has sponsored the final lap with $100 going to the race winner. Some of the drivers who have indicated that they will compete are Brady Short (2B Racing), Shane Hollingsworth (10 Truckers 24 Hour), Hunter Schuerenberg (10T Truckers 24 Hour), Darren Hagen (11 Jeff Walker Racing), Kerry Kinser (11 Axsom Racing), Dustin Morgan (11D Jeff Walker Racing), Kenny Biro (22 Biro Racing), Chad Boat (30 Billy Boat Motorsports), Jon Stanbrough (53 Foxco), Donnie Ray Crawford (67k Keith Kunz Motorsports), and TBA (67 Keith Kunz Motorsports). With all of the money and prizes that are up for grabs, it would seem likely that about all of the top sprint cars should be on hand. In addition, the O'Neal Wood Products modifieds and the Tire & Wheel Center super stocks will be in competition racing for $600 to win with proper decals. Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $15 for this event (children 12 and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $30. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.
