SCCA - MCCLUGHAN AND MAZDA 3 WINS STOCK C AGAIN
WAYNE, NJ (April 6, 2007) - Joe McClughan, in his Mazda 3 Sedan, recently claimed his seventh victory for 2007 out of the eight total races he's entered this year. The native Texan is currently the point leader in Showroom Stock C racing.
McClughan and McClughan Racing Enterprises have been active in SCCA racing for over 25 years. Named the Southwest Division Showroom Stock C National Champion for the last three years in a row, McClughan is continuing the winning tradition in 2007 with a similarly impressive record. In 2005 he won eight of ten races; in 2006 he won ten of twelve.
"Joe is an extremely talented competitor whose has once again exceeded expectations," said Jeff Koehler, Hankook Tire's Motorsports Marketing Manager. "With his incredible winning record, we're confident he'll prove to be a real threat at this year's runoffs in Topeka."
Earlier this year at PIR raceway, Joe beat the 2006 national 2nd place finisher and went on to compete at the MSHR double national in February 2007. There, Joe won both races and set a new track record on Hankook Ventus Z214 tires. At Texas World Speedway in March 2007 he won both days, again setting a new track record in the process.
"I noticed that my 2007 times on the Hankook Ventus Z214 C50 compound were right in the same ballpark as the A6's we ran in 2006," commented McClughan. "The temperature was in the 30's for the 2006 race and in the high 80s for this past weekend's race. No matter the conditions, these tires always perform. I'm glad I made the switch."
McClughan's schedule for the remainder on 2007 include at least eight more races-among them the famous June Sprints at Road America and the National Championship Runoff Races in Topeka, Kansas.
