NHRA Warren Johnson Qualifying Wrap Up:

On the strength of his 6.680-second, 207.94 mph pass from Friday
afternoon, Warren Johnson qualified his GM Performance Parts GTO in the
fifth position for Sunday's final eliminations of the O'Reilly Spring
Nationals in Houston, TX. With Saturday's twin qualifying sessions at
Houston Raceway Park cancelled by rain, the field was set based on
Friday's results, with teams will going into race day facing the added
challenge of a completely different and untested racing surface, a
scenario which "The Professor" hopes will work in his favor.

"The biggest concern on our minds, as well as that of everyone else in
the pit area, will be the effect today's washout has on the racetrack.
There won't be a lot of time to groom it in the morning, so we'll have
to evaluate what we find in the morning to see what we have, and come up
with a set-up that we feel will work the best. Mind you, this process
could involve the flip of a coin.

"One factor working in our favor is that our GM Performance Parts GTO
has been making very good, consistent runs of late, giving us added
confidence that we can come up with the right set-up. Although some may
find the prospect of running on a green racetrack somewhat daunting, I
like the challenge. After all, I've always said that the way to make
this interesting is to put in a chicane and a couple moguls, so tomorrow
should be right up my alley."
