DETROIT - March 29, 2007: Car and safety experts from AAA say after the winter, drivers should double-check their tires and ensure they are properly inflated. While tires are the most important safety element on a vehicle, they are also the most neglected. A survey by the Car Care Council found that 21 percent of cars and trucks had improperly inflated tires, and 16 percent were so worn they needed replacing. When replacing ones tires, General Motors officials advise drivers to not only check for size but also other vehicle properties particular to the car model. To find out these properties, drivers should read their owner’s manual or check with their dealership to ensure they buy the appropriate tires for their car.
