BAYTOWN, Texas. - An Australian drag racing family, consisting of Steve 
and Kate Harker are getting ready to double the action in the Top 
Alcohol sportsman categories at this weekends NHRA O'Reilly Spring 
Nationals at Houston Raceway Park. This weekend marks the National debut 
for Kate Harker in the Top Alcohol Dragster ranks while her father Steve 
Harker is looking to continue his success in Top Alcohol Funny Car after 
a runner-up finish at last weekends Lucas Oil Drag Racing series event 
in Memphis, Tn.

Steve, a 30 year veteran of the sport, is looking for his first National 
event win of the season and has already made two final round appearances 
in his last four starts. Harker has shown he has the performance 
consistency to go rounds keeping his '06 Monte Carlo Top Alcohol Funny 
Car running in the mid-low 5.60 second elapsed times but is looking to 
push his 'hot rod' even quicker.

"Performance wise the race car has been incredible," comments Steve. "We 
are confident we can still get more out of our tune-up and if the driver 
does his job we should go some rounds at this weekends event. I am 
excited that Kate is making her National debut this weekend, its a great 
race and Kate has worked hard to be in the drivers seat. I know she will 
do well."

Meanwhile, over in the Top Alcohol Dragster pits and running out of the 
Conway Automotive Race Team, the 24 yr. old Australian-born driver, Kate 
Harker is getting set to make the biggest start of her NHRA Drag Racing 
Career. This weekends event will be Kate's first National Event 
appearance as a driver in the United States and one she hopes will see 
her go rounds on Sunday and perhaps join her father in the winner's circle.

"This is a big event for me, I am usually on the 'other side'  as a crew 
member on dad's Top Alcohol Funny Car," says Kate "I have already 
competed at three Lucas Oil Divisional events this season in Tom Conways 
A/Fuel dragster and I am excited about coming back to Houston having 
competed here in early February. Tom has been working overtime on our 
tune-up to get the dragster down into the 5.30's even the 5.20's and 
make us competitive on the race track. We all understand it takes time 
and I have always believed the harder you work the luckier you get."

The Harker Motorsports Team also welcomes Kate Harker's identical twin 
sister, Diana Harker who will be filling her sisters shoes as a crew 
member on the family's Top Alcohol Funny Car. Diana plans to attend 
Frank Hawley's NHRA Drag Racing School across April 9-11 behind the 
wheel of one of the schools Alcohol cars and will license to drive Top 
Alcohol dragster as the year progresses.

Whatever the outcome brings this weekend, this Aussie Father-daughter 
Top Alcohol combination will be turning heads and working hard to go 
fast at this weekends NHRA event.
