Altamont Motorsports Park Announces Diverse, Exciting 2007 Event Schedule

TRACY, Calif.--Racing action returns, better than ever, for the 2007 Race Season, starting this weekend at the Altamont Motorsports Park located between Livermore and Tracy, Calif. A diverse slate of racing activity, as seen online at www.AltamontRacing.com, highlights this year's schedule at the San Francisco Bay Areas only NASCAR-sanctioned oval track.

Headlining the NASCAR line-up are two (2) nationally televised NASCAR Grand National West Series events one in April and the Season Finale Championship Race in September. Additionally, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, which features Western Late Model, American Limited, Grand American Modified, Pro-Truck and Formula-4 competitors, has 16 events scheduled for the 2007 Altamont Motorsports Park season. The season-opening NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event is April 7.

Open wheel fans will not be disappointed in 2007, as the USAC-CASA, Ford Focus, BCRA, and NCMA Sprint Cars return to Altamont Motorsports Park for seven exciting events throughout the season. Open wheel events, including the USAC-CASA Best in the West series, which provides fast-action, close wheel-to-wheel racing, starts in May and offers a great summer racing series through September.

Fan-favorite drifting action hits Altamont Motorsports Park with a vengeance this year, including international competition events scheduled with D-1 and NOPI. Regional favorite Drift Battle and other local drifting groups have set a full schedule of events at Altamont in 2007, including drift exhibitions at various NASCAR events.

Stock Car Late Model touring groups returning to Altamont Motorsports Park this year, include the El Dorado Hotel and Casino WestCar series and the SRL Wild West Shoot Out. New to the Altamont Motorsports Park road course this year will be Formula-4 a new Altamont class combining the popular Buzz Bombs with other cars having 4-cylinder engines.

Motorcycle racing also makes a great return to Altamont Motorsports Park. The SuperMoto USA National Championship will bring its very popular, hard-charging motorcycle competition back to the Altamont road course.

And speaking of road course racingback by popular demand, and then some, will be not one but two 24 Hour of LeMons events (www.24hoursoflemons.com) one in July and one in October. This playful spoof on the world-famous, French classic 24 Hours of LeMans provides $500 competition cars to run for the money (or lemons) in 24 hours of semi-continuous endurance driving, mixed in with some semi-continuous endurance partying and great fun. More than 35 cars entered the inaugural 24 hours at Altamont Motorsports Park in 2006 the winner having completed 1,500 laps of the Altamont Motorsports Park road course. It was such a popular event, capturing the fancy, ingenuity, and humor of so many car guys, (and even a comment from National Public Radios Car Talk Click and Clack duo) that one event just would not handle all the registrants looking for a spot in 2007. The July 2007 event already boasts more than 100 entries!

Enduro events mark the calendar more than once during the season. The West Coast Enduro Racing Group launches the event season on March 31. The extremely popular and traditional Pumpkin Smash Enduro helps wind up the season in October.

Coordinating the outstanding 2007 schedule of events at Altamont Motorsports Park is the newly appointed President and General Manager, Jeff Macey. An entrepreneur with more than 30 years of professional motorsports management experience, Macey was welcomed to AMP this past February by John Condren, CEO of both Altamont Motorsports Park and Riverside Motorsports Park. Condren commented, Jeff is a great addition to our professional team and is already proving to be a real asset to the company by bringing outstanding events to Altamont Motorsports Park. Ive heard nothing but tremendous reports from our race drivers and teams, from our staff, and from the thousands of Altamont Motorsports Park and former Stockton 99 Raceway fans who come from the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley and many points beyond.

Stockton 99 Raceway closed last year after 50 years of operation. Many Stockton 99 Raceway drivers and fans have stated that Altamont Motorsports Park will be their new 'home track'.

Altamont Motorsports Park was formed last year as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Riverside Motorsports Park, LLC (Atwater, Calif.) when RMP CEO John Condren and a group of investors acquired the historic, world-famous Altamont racing facility, which first opened for racing in the 1960s. Following Altamont Motorsports Parks first season of operation (2006), the United States Auto Club (USAC) presented Condren and the Altamont organization with the Track Operator of the Year award for AMPs 2006 season, noting the tracks contributions to USACs open-wheel racing series. NASCAR also cited Altamont Motorsports Park at its 2006 Awards Banquet as a Premier Short Track, awarding the facility with NASCARs Best Facility Improvement trophy.
