BOYD CODDINGTON TEAMS WITH O'REILLY AUTO PARTS
"Fine Fifty-Seven for O'Reilly Auto Parts"
La Habra, Calif.- Mar 15, 2007- Boyd Coddington and his crew of the hit TV
show AMERICAN HOT ROD are hard at work creating a modern version of a
classic '57 Chevy for the O'Reilly Auto Parts chain. For the upcoming few
weeks this hot rod build can be seen on the TLC channel, which airs every
Thursday 8:00pm.
When O'Reilly invited Boyd to be the spokesperson for the O'Reilly brand,
Boyd did not hesitate. After all, O'Reilly is all about wrenching, and with
over 1600 stores nationwide you might even run into Boyd and his wife Jo on
one of their many O'Reilly store surprise visits.
O'Reilly is very involved in motorsports, and this Boyd-red creation will
fit right into their corporate activities and events. The year of the car is
important because that's when the first O'Reilly auto parts store opened in
Springfield, Missouri.
Most of the bodywork has retained the classic lines of the '57, with nosing
and decking (removal of chrome trim from the hood and trunk), a custom
grille, and a great Gabe Lopez interior. The hood did receive extensive work
to flow more with the lines of the car and the raked stance from the
all-independent chassis and one-off Boyd wheels in 17 and 18-inch sizes.
Internal fortitude for the Chevy is the latest offering by GM Performance
Parts, a new crate engine based on the 6-bolt-main, aluminum-block LS2
engine but with a four-barrel carb, hi-po heads, 10.9:1 compression and a
hotter cam. GM calls it the LS-364/440, with those numbers standing for the
displacement and horsepower. The 21st-century hot rod debuted in February at
the O'Reilly Manager's Convention. Though O'Reilly has more than 1600
stores, their corporate headquarters is still in Springfield, where they
started.

Boyd for a Buck
In 1957, Charles Frances (C.F.) and Charles H. (Chub) O'Reilly founded
O'Reilly Auto Parts. As part of our 50th Anniversary Celebration, Boyd
Coddington was commissioned to build a unique Special Edition 57 Chevy Bel
Air named "The Chubster".
O'Reilly Auto Parts is giving away the Chubster. Stop by an O'Reilly Auto
Parts store and buy a hero card of the "Chubster" for just a dollar. Buy as
many as you wish, 100% of the net profits will go to the United way. For
