Tim Sauter Atlanta Rewind

Tim Sauter Atlanta Rewind
First race in new partnership ends in 21st place
March 16th, Atlanta Motor Speedway Fighting both flu symptoms and a
loose race truck Friday evening Tim Sauter finished 21st in the
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series American Commercial Lines 200 at the
Atlanta Motor Speedway. The finish was the highest of the young
season for Sauter but didn’t leave him feeling any better after the
event, “I probably should have got out of the truck and let my
brother John take over.” Sauter said after the finish. “He was ready
to step-in and I’m fighting this darn bug.”

Rain Friday morning cancelled two of the three practice sessions so
the Green Light team lost valuable time needed to adjust the handling
of Sauter’s race truck, “We were struggling with a loose condition
from the minute we unloaded and we could have used that extra
practice time. I’m sure we could have made the truck better.”

Starting from the 29th starting position Sauter had worked his way up
to 23rd when NASCAR threw a competition caution on lap 25 to allow
the teams to check their tire wear do to the lack of practice earlier
in the day. “I’m ok in three and four but really loose in one and
two,” Tim informed his team. The Green Light Racing crew made
adjustments to tighten-up the truck, but throughout the next green
flag run the handling became progressively worse and Sauter was
lapped on lap 53 by leader Todd Bodine. “The track seemed to get
looser as the night went on. I couldn’t get into turn one all night
long.”

The Lester Buildings/TSI/ASI Limited Silverado got back on the lead
lap by earning the lucky dog award on the sixth caution of the race
on lap 91 and reached as high as 15th place before fading to 21st at
the finish of the 130-lap race won by Mike Skinner.

“I want to thank Ken Smith of SS Racing and his partner companies for
joining us this weekend,” Sauter said. “I would have liked to get
them a better finish than 21st. I’m looking forward to them joining
us again at Lowe’s in May. Hopefully, I’ll be feeling better and
we’ll have this truck handling more like it should.”

Lester Buildings Vice President Larry Lembrich was encouraged with
the effort this weekend. “There is a lot of potential in this team
and the guys didn’t give up. I’m ready for Martinsville. That should
be a break-through race for this team.” Lembrich is also pleased with
the new alliance with SS Racing. “There are a lot of positive things
that our companies can do together.”

The Green Light Racing team will race again in the Kroger 250 at
Martinsville Speedway on March 31st.
