NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Friday from Orlando Speed World Dragway

ORLANDO, Fla. - The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event kicked off today at Orlando Speed World Dragway. After the first round of qualifying, Comp Eliminator racer Glen Treadwell and Super Stock driver Jerry Silveus both qualified in the top position.

Treadwell of Sorrento, Fla., made a pass of 8.126 seconds to qualify first ahead of Greg Kamplain of North Salem, Ind., who qualified second with a pass of 7.393 seconds.

In Super Stock, Silveus of Van Buren, Ohio, drove a '05 Cavalier and qualified with a pass of 9.452 seconds to find the top position. Silveus qualified ahead of Jay Higgins of Fayetteville, N.C., who qualified second driving a '07 Cobalt.

Stock Eliminator driver Bruce Noland of Leesburg, Va., made a pass of 11.189 seconds driving a '73 Camaro to qualify first, while Tim Lowe of Macy, Ind., qualified in second driving a '72 Skylark.

In the Top Sportsman category, Ronnie Davis of Suwanee, Ga., qualfied first driving a '63 Corvette and making a pass of 6.704 seconds at 210.67 mph. The second position went to Daniel Morrow of Bradenton, Fla., who ran 6.955 seconds at 198.36 mph.

The Top Qualifier in Top Dragster was Matt Gilmore of Altamonte Springs, Fla., who made a pass of 6.470 seconds at 210.47 mph. Jeffy Duke Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, Fla., qualified in the second spot with a time of 6.818 seconds at 196.20 mph.
