Add'l Keynote Speakers Announced for Nat'l Alt Fuels & Vehicles Conference
Las Vegas, NV-March 7, 2007 The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVi) hosts the annual Alternative Fuels & Vehicles National Conference + Expo in Anaheim, California April 1-4, 2007. AFVi is pleased to welcome two new keynote speakers to the lineup. Iconic oilman, investor and one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in the world, T. Boone Pickens will be joined by Senior Adviser to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Jr., Neel Kashkari.
T. Boone Pickens' life has been filled with abundant accolades tied to his entrepreneurial drive and subsequent successes that have generated hundreds of millions of dollars along the way. Now the head of BP Capital Management, Oil & Gas Journal listed him as one of the "100 Most Influential People of the Petroleum Century." Today, Mr. Pickens embraces alternative fuels understanding that oil resources are finite. Speaking at this conference in 2005, Mr. Pickens said, "Global oil (production) is 84 million barrels (a day). I don't believe you can get it any more than 84 million barrels. I don't care what (Saudi Crown Prince) Abdullah, (Russian Premier Vladimir) Putin or anybody else says about oil reserves or production. I think they are on decline in the biggest oil fields in the world today and I know what's it like once you turn the corner and start declining, it's a tread mill that you just can't keep up with."
Neel Kashkari joins Mr. Pickens in offering clear insights about the state of our oil reserves. As a senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Kashkari leads his work on energy policy and is also one of the architects of President Bush's new energy plan to reduce America's oil consumption by 20% in ten years. Mr. Kashkari offers rare insight into how the plan was developed and the critical role that fleets, entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, farmers and policymakers have in achieving America's energy security. At a recent conference in San Francisco, Mr. Kashkari said, "Alternative energy is the single most important factor in improving our energy security," he said.
The conference features more than 100 speakers including actor Ed Begley, Jr., Port of Los Angeles President S. David Freeman, Toronto Star auto reviewer, Jim Kenzie, JD Power and Associates' Mike Marshall, actor Larry Hagman, and energy analyst and author Terry Tamminen. An estimated 1500 people will attend the nation's largest fuel and technology neutral conference. Sixty sessions feature many of the leading decision-makers in alternative fuels and technologies, representing truck manufacturers, fuel suppliers, government agencies and parts manufacturers. Session topics include legislation, climate change, plug-in hybrids, ports, EPA engine standards, biofuels updates, electric drive advances, and workshops on airports, schools, transit, delivery, and refuse. AFVi is pleased to announce the confirmed keynote speakers for the 13th national conference.
