A1TC South Africa SPEED TV Reminder (S)
TV REMINDER - DURBAN STREET RACE AIRING ON SPEED
Montréal, Canada - Tuesday 27 February, 2007 -
Round 8 of the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of
Motorsport, hosted on the streets of Durban,
South Africa, will be broadcast on SPEED on
Wednesday 28th February at 4pm EST.
The unpredictable nature of street racing was
evidenced Sunday in South Africa as A1 Team
Canada frustratingly failed to score points for
the second consecutive A1GP race meeting.
Durban's 3.28km temporary street course yielded
few positives for Toronto's James Hinchcliffe in
the Canadian car as a 13th place Sprint race
finish was followed by retirement on the opening
lap of the Feature following contact from
Indonesia's entry at Turn 1, Canada still holding
10th in the A1GP Nations Standings with three
rounds remaining.
It proved to be a record-setting weekend in
Durban for Germany's Nico Hülkenberg as he picked
up his fifth and sixth straight wins, the teenage
rookie sweeping all three rounds held so-far in
2007. In doing so, Hülkenberg broke the record
for most number of A1GP wins by a driver with a
total of eight, all scored this season to power
Germany into a commanding points lead over New
Zealand, Hülkenberg beating the previous record
of seven held by France's Alexandre Premat set in
last season's inaugural A1GP competition.
Round 9 of the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of
Motorsport sees a trip across the Atlantic to
Mexico City and the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez,
