Hy-Drive and PeopleNet Announce Business Partnership
TSX Venture Exchange symbol: HGS
TORONTO, Feb. 27 -- Hy-Drive Technologies Ltd. (TSX-V: HGS) and PeopleNet jointly announced today a business partnership in which Hy-Drive will immediately begin incorporating PeopleNet technology in its products.
PeopleNet is the leading supplier of internet-based, satellite tracking and mobile communications for fleets and the technology will allow Hy-Drive to demonstrate, verify, and maintain the fuel efficiency and emission reduction benefits that Hy-Drive guarantees to its clients. As a result of the partnership, Hy-Drive clients will be offered the opportunity to subscribe to the full breadth of PeopleNet services, delivering major improvements in operational efficiencies, at a discounted cost.
"The incorporation of PeopleNet technology in our product is of strategic importance to both Hy-Drive and our customers" said Tom Brown, President of Hy-Drive. "With this technology embedded in our system we will now be able to monitor and maintain the fuel efficiencies obtained by our Clean Burn Technology(TM), thus fully supporting the performance guarantees we provide our clients. This feature fully differentiates us in this market, as the only supplier backing claims with independent, statistically significant evidence."
Brian McLaughlin, PeopleNet's VP of Marketing and Product Planning is equally excited by the partnership. "We are proud that Hy-Drive has chosen our technology to deliver this important enhancement to their fuel efficiency solution. The synergies of the PeopleNet and Hy-Drive technologies are compelling and obvious."
Steve Teeple, President of PolyWog transport is a satisfied client of both Hy-Drive and PeopleNet. "With the addition of Hy-Drive in May of last year, we were able to improve fuel mileage by an average of 1.2 MPG and were able to confirm it daily using the PeopleNet system" said Mr. Teeple. "Since adding PeopleNet in 1998, we were able to greatly improve driver retention because of the communications capabilities the technology offers." Mr. Teeple operates a fleet of refrigerated trucks out of Palmetto, Florida.
About Hy-Drive
Hy-Drive is an energy technology firm that has developed a proprietary, patented hydrogen generating system. The Hy-Drive system generates and injects hydrogen gas into a regular internal combustion engine, enhancing the combustion process by allowing fuel to burn more efficiently and completely. In previous extensive customer trials and third party tests, the Hy-Drive system has demonstrated significant performance enhancements, including reduced emissions, increased torque/horsepower and significant fuel savings. These benefits, specifically fuel economy and reduced emissions, provide customers with greater productivity overall, as their engines operate more efficiently, with improved cycle times and less carbon build-up. Hy-Drive Product
Hy-Drive Hydrogen Generating System (HGS)
The Hy-Drive Hydrogen Generating System (HGS) enables internal combustion engines to run more efficiently by adding hydrogen to the conventional hydrocarbon fuel (gasoline, diesel or propane). The HGS, measuring 11 3/4"w x 13"d x 19 5/8"h, converts distilled water to hydrogen and oxygen. When the hydrogen enters the engine's combustion chamber, it produces a more complete burn of the fuel, resulting in reduced emissions, increased horsepower and improved fuel economy. The Hy-Drive HGS is connected to the vehicle's engine and powered by the standard electrical charging circuit.
How it works
The HGS is connected to the vehicle's engine. Energy required for the electrochemical reaction is supplied from the standard electrical charging circuit. The hydrogen and oxygen gases are delivered to the air intake by a vacuum pump. An electronic process controller varies the energy input to maintain a constant flow of gases, while an electronic safety module ensures safe operation. Uses two litres of distilled water every 80 hours of operation. The HGS operates only when the engine is running and produces hydrogen and oxygen on demand. Gases are never stored.
HGS Applications include:

Engine & Exhaust Savings
Environmental Benefits
By promoting a more complete burn, the Hy-Drive HGS reduces the products of incomplete combustion and provides more work output from the same amount of fuel. Transportation is the single greatest contributor of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere in North America. Vehicles also contribute to acid rain and urban smog.
The Hy-Drive HGS reduces vehicle emissions to well below acceptable levels and offers one of the best solutions to transportation air pollution on the market today.
