Honda Tuner Challenge to Debut in 2007 ProSolo Season
TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 22, 2007) - Sports Car Club of America and American Honda are pleased to announce the creation of a new Tire Rack (r) SCCA ProSolo program for Honda owners.
In addition to Honda's contingency support, the manufacturer will sponsor a new program in 2007, The Honda Tuner Challenge; open to all Honda and Acura drivers. The Honda Tuner Challenge will pay cash prizes to the top four Honda drivers in the Hawk Super Challenge and then place the top two Honda drivers in a final face-off to determine the Honda Super Challenge top-eliminator for that event. The winner of the face-off will receive an additional cash bonus, with the Honda Tuner Challenge purse for each event totaling $1,000.
The stakes are raised at the ProSolo finale, when the purse increases to $4,000.
"American Honda is proud to continue its long association with the SCCA and the Tire Rack ProSolo Championship," said T.E. McHale, Manager of Motorsports Public Relations for American Honda. "We're deeply involved in racing on a variety of levels, and the new Honda Tuner Challenge is another example of that ever-expanding involvement.
"We look forward to increasing the strength of the Honda Solo community and crowning a Honda Champion at the ProSolo Finale."
"Honda has been sponsoring ProSolo programs for over 15 years," said SCCA Vice President of Program Development and Operations. "This latest program shows Honda's commitment to its drivers and the sport. It could even open the door for a future ProSolo manufacturers' championship."
