Leggett Announces First Quarter Dividend

CARTHAGE, Mo., Feb. 22, 2007 -- -- 1Q dividend is $.17 per share, 6.3% higher than the $.16 dividend of 1Q

     2006.
  -- Current dividend yield is 2.8%.
  -- 36th consecutive year of dividend increases, averaging 14% compound
     annual growth.
  -- Second-best dividend growth record among the S&P 500 companies.

Diversified manufacturer Leggett & Platt's Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $.17 per share today. This marks a 6.3% increase over last year's first quarter dividend of $.16 per share. The dividend will be paid on April 13, 2007, to shareholders of record on March 15, 2007.

The company has increased its dividend annually for 36 consecutive years. Compound dividend growth has averaged 14% over that period. Only one other S&P 500 company has matched that record.

Leggett's first quarter results will be released after the market closes on Thursday, April 19, 2007, with a conference call at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern) on Friday, April 20, 2007.
