Former Internet-Broadband Executive to Lead New Product, Marketing Initiatives for Telematics Provider ATX Group

DALLAS-FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 22, 2007 -- David Friedman, formerly the top marketing officer for Connexion by Boeing, a global internet unit of the Boeing Company and previously VP, Marketing for U.S. Cellular, has been named EVP and Chief Marketing Officer for ATX Group, the world's largest independent telematics provider to the automotive industry.

Friedman will be responsible for development of ATX's "T3," third- generation of telematics services. Telematics involves the integration of two- way wireless communications, in-vehicle electronics and location positioning technology, interactive voice recognition and off-board data processing.

"David's experience in global marketing and product innovation as well as his insights into new technologies and their potential applications fits perfectly with the direction telematics is headed, entailing the convergence of various voice and data applications and devices within the vehicle," said ATX President and CEO Steve Millstein. "David will be working in concert with our global engineering teams but also with strategic vendors and suppliers."

Since 2003, Friedman was Vice President of Marketing and Direct Sales for Connexion by Boeing in Irvine, CA, which provided communications and entertainment services to airplanes, executive jets, and ships. One of his key achievements with Boeing was the commercialization of in-flight wireless Internet on board the planes of 12 commercial aviation partners, beginning with the first commercial Internet call from a commercial airline flight in May 2004. Prior to his work at Boeing, he consulted with broadband wireless companies, including a stint as an interim Marketing VP for a Seattle-based, global Internet company. Between 1995 and 2001, he served as Vice President of Marketing for U.S. Cellular in Chicago.

Friedman earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York, received a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and obtained a Master of Business Administration and Economics from the George Washington University.

Based in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, area and Duesseldorf, Germany, ATX Group is the world's largest independent provider of telematics services for the automobile industry, serving both North America and Europe. ATX telematics services are designed to provide enhanced safety, security and driving convenience to vehicle owners. These services include location- specific emergency and roadside assistance, automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle recovery, remote diagnostics and real-time traffic and navigation assistance. ATX, the largest independent telematics provider not owned by an automobile manufacturer or telecommunications firm, also provides telematics services designed to help automobile manufacturers and their affiliated dealerships to use telematics data to reduce costs, enhance vehicle servicing, and more closely manage customer relationships.
