Frost & Sullivan to Host Quarterly Analyst Briefing on ACEA Agreement on Thursday 22 February 2007

LONDON, February 15 -- Frost & Sullivan will host a conference call on Thursday 22 February at 15.00 GMT to provide industry participants with an overview of the recently published study entitled "A Strategic Assessment of the ACEA Agreement and its Implications on European OEMs".

Reducing emissions is one of the key challenges for European vehicle manufacturers. In 1998, vehicle manufacturers voluntarily agreed to reduce CO2 emissions from passenger cars to 140 g/km by 2008. However, progress has been slow for a number of reasons and this target is looking increasingly elusive.

This briefing will give an insight into the current challenges facing vehicle manufacturers and the industry as whole as they attempt to reduce CO2 emissions. It will also include an outlook on the strategic impact of legislation to make CO2 reduction mandatory beyond 2008.

This briefing will be helpful to all European vehicle manufacturers, other vehicle manufacturers with operations in Europe, the ACEA, the European Commission, local authorities responsible for environmental protection and fuel suppliers in Europe.

This briefing is based upon ongoing CO2 emission reduction analysis in the European market. The report provides an insight into the challenges faced in emission reduction and includes methods and technologies that help in reducing CO2 emissions. The purpose of this research is to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of the ACEA agreement and OEM activities aimed at meeting ACEA targets.

"Given changes in customer preferences in terms of engine, performance, safety and comfort, as well as increasing fuel prices and strict emissions norms, European vehicle manufacturers are facing tough challenges in reducing CO2 emissions, as they attempt to balance customer preferences and increasing cost," says Krishnasami Rajagopalan, Research Analyst for Frost & Sullivan's Automotive & Transportation group. He continues, "Complying with the ACEA Agreement in 2008 and 2012 will take more than just technological innovation; it will also need the help of investors, stakeholders, customers, local governments and fuel suppliers."

Frost & Sullivan will hold this conference call at 15.00 GMT on Thursday 22 February 2007, which will provide industry participants with an outlook on CO2 emission reduction in the European automotive market.
