1) JAMA advocates further harmonisation of automotive technical
regulations
On 28 November 2006 JAMA Executive Vice President Kanji Nakayama
addressed an audience of senior EU Commission officials and
representatives from the automobile industry during a high-level
conference in Brussels on the "Harmonisation of automotive
technical regulations".
2) JAMA responds to the June 2006 London Economics report on
market developments in car retailing and after-sales markets
In June 2006 the technical consultancy London Economics published
its report on the competition implications of Regulation
No. 1400/2002, which deals with the distribution and after-sales
services of new motor vehicles in the EU. In its response, JAMA
reiterated that its members support a competitive market that
meets customers' best interests, which include safe products and
services as well as competitive prices.
3) An "integrated approach" to the reduction of CO2 emissions
in Japan
JAMA is voluntarily committed to reducing CO2 emissions from new
passenger cars distributed in the EU to an average of 140g/km by
2009. Nevertheless, JAMA emphasises that CO2 reduction in the
road transport sector requires an "integrated approach", one that
takes into account greater fuel efficiency, smoother traffic flow,
and the adoption of eco-driving by vehicle users. The article
takes a look at how that approach is being applied in Japan.
4) Japan's New Wave Sports Cars - Essay by Peter Nunn
Speed, horsepower and eco-friendliness. Three themes behind the
sensational new wave of Japanese sports cars set to star in 2007.
This year promises to be a very special one for new Japanese
sports cars, perhaps the best in a generation, and the action
started bright and early at January's Detroit Show and the Tokyo
Auto Salon.
