2007 Media Kickoff Day at Infineon Raceway

 

WHAT:

Infineon Raceway will host a 2007 Media Kickoff Day in advance of the
upcoming Big O Tires Racing Season in the Sonoma Valley.

 

WHEN/WHERE:

Monday, Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m.  Infineon Raceway, Highways 37 and 121,
Sonoma,  (800-870-RACE, www.infineonraceway.com
<http://www.infineonraceway.com/> ). All drivers will compete in a
karting demonstration at 10:30 a.m. behind the main grandstand, followed
by a formal press conference in the Wine Country Winner's Circle at 11
a.m.

 

WHO:

*	AJ Allmendinger (NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series): The Los Gatos native
is a rookie driver in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series in the No. 84 Red
Bull Toyota Camry. 
*	Marco Andretti (IndyCar(r) Series): Andretti became the youngest
driver (19) to ever win a major open-wheel race when he took the
checkered flag at the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at Infineon Raceway in
2006. He drives the No. 26 New York Stock Exchange machine for Andretti
Green Racing, 

*	Scott Pruett (Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series): Auburn's
Pruett recently won the Rolex 24 at Daytona and teamed with co-driver
Luis Diaz to win the debut of the Grand-Am Series at Infineon Raceway in
2006 in their No. 01 CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing Lexus Riley.
*	Angelle Sampey (NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series): Sampey, rider
of the U.S. Army Suzuki, is the winningest female in NHRA history with
40 victories, and she is also a three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle
champion. Sampey also owns the national elapsed-time record for Pro
Stock Motorcycle at 6.939 seconds.

 

SPEEDFEST KICKOFF:

SpeedFest, as the day is known, will also serve as a kickoff for the
upcoming motor-racing season in Sonoma for race fans. There will be a
number of elements designed specifically for race fans, including an
American Red Cross Blood Drive, fan forum, special ticket giveaways,
motor sports corral display and other items. Fans will also be able to
purchase NASCAR Day pins for $5, with proceeds going to charity. Look
for a detailed press release on specific fan elements of SpeedFest in
the coming days.
