Lonnie Arima Joins NAVTEQ as Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Applications, Americas
CHICAGO, Feb. 7, 2007 -- NAVTEQ , a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, today announced the appointment of Lonnie Arima as Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Applications, Americas, reporting to Winston Guillory, Senior Vice President, Consumer & Enterprise. In this position, Arima is charged with the ongoing development and implementation of NAVTEQ's sales and customer marketing initiatives for Consumer Sales, Americas.
Arima brings more than 25 years of marketing experience in consumer technology to NAVTEQ. A dynamic leader with a diverse sales background, Arima arrives with a deep understanding of the retail channel environment as well as extensive experience in supply chain management.
Prior to joining NAVTEQ, Arima served as Vice President of Branded Products at Western Digital where during his tenure he launched several successful products including a line of internationally acclaimed external hard drives which immediately became category market leaders in North America and tripled Western Digital's European market share within two years.
Arima honed his marketing skills at respected technology companies such as Thales Navigation, Inc., Iomega Corporation and Apple Computer, Inc. While at Thales serving as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing - Consumer, Arima nurtured sales and developed retail programs including the launch of Thales' Roadmate PND product line which became the category market leader within 30 days in North America.

Arima holds a B.S. in Biology and Economics from the University of Washington.
