Passen Named Technical Director for SCCA Pro Racing

 

TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 1, 2007) -  SCCA Pro Racing announced today that
Shawn Passen has been appointed Technical Director for SCCA Pro Racing.

 

Passen has served as Technical Manager for SPEED Touring Car since 2003
and will continue this function in addition to overseeing all SPEED
World Challenge and Mazda MX-5 Cup technical programs.

 

"We're very lucky to have someone with Shawn's experience head our
technical department," SCCA Pro Racing President Bob Wildberger said.
"His knowledge of the teams, the process and the cars from both an
official's and a competitor's perspective is invaluable to our technical
program."

 

"I expect 2007 to be an exciting SCCA Pro Racing season full of close
racing," Passen said. "I am well aware of the challenges that lie ahead
and I'm ready to meet them head on."

 

Passen's connection to SPEED World Challenge dates back to 1994 when he
was involved with the series as a co-owner and team manager through
2000. Passen's team was even awarded Crew of the Year in 1999.

 

Since becoming a Technical Manager for SPEED Touring Car, Passen has
played an important role in re-writing the Pro Racing Regulations,
designing computer engine modeling programs and initiating the
homologation process for new car entries. 

 

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Passen graduated with honors from DeVry
University with a B.A. in Busniess Operations Management and has more
than a dozen years of motorsports experience.
