KROHN RACINGROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA 2007 Notes and Quotes at the 18-Hour: The Krohn Racing No. 76 Pontiac Riley team of owner/driver Tracy Krohn, Nic Jonsson and Boris Said continued to experience electrical problems during the night. It required another lengthy pit stop in the garage and the team lost more valuable laps. The No 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley of Colin Braun, Max Papis and JJ Lehto continued to plug away during the night but lost laps after JJ Lehto had an off-track excursion in the bus stop and ended up sliding into the grass and damaging the front end bodywork. At the 18-hour mark, the No 75 Krohn entry was in the 25th overall position, 49 laps down from the leaders. The No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley was in the 29th position, 54 laps down from the leaders. JEFF HAZELL, Krohn Racing Team Manager: JJ slid wide at the chicane and damaged the nose and the splitter. On the other car, we had electrical problems again requiring several stops until we got it sorted out. Everything had to be done – pretty much the same thing as was done previously – coils, plugs and more. We still don’t know what component it is or what’s causing it, so we’re not very happy. JJ LEHTO, driver of the No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: Unfortunately we really lost the race so early because it was only three or four hours in when we had the problems with the engine. You know there is no chance to come back anymore. We are just driving around, pushing like crazy. The car was working really well after they fixed the engine. It was as good as anybody else’s car. If we had been able to run without the problems, we would have really been in the game with a good result in this race. Everything was against us really. We had put on a second set of rain tires and they were totally different than the first ones – so slippery. It was very difficult to get them to work. It was so unpredictable. Every lap was different. You never knew if you had grip or not. Going into the bus stop, I was breaking in exactly the same place I always do. I thought it was okay. I didn’t want to hit the curb so, I thought I’d go straight over the grass. The grass was so soft, the car just dug in. It took the bonnet off. It was a bad move. Who would know the grass is so soft here. NIC JONSSON, driver of the No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: We are driving around right now since we’ve had all these problems in the middle of the night. -- electrical problems that no one really knows what it is. We’ve been chasing one thing after another from a coil package to an ECU to everything that has to do with electronics. Finally it worked and we came back out. Four or five hours later, we had the same problem again and started the whole thing all over again. It’s frustrating because we have two really good race cars here. I think we had two cars that could have finishes in the Top 10. It’s very unfortunately that we had all the electrical problems. COLIN BRAUN,driver of the No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: My last stint was really good. We gained back a couple of laps on the race track. It was obviously tough with all the water and rain and hard to see out the windshield. The windshield wiper stopped working. It was a rough stint. The car was running really good in the rain and hopefully we can keep up that pace and stay out of trouble, TRACY KROHN, owner/driver of the No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley: We’ve had a lot of electrical problems all through the night so we’re many laps down. The car is running fine now. It was a little bit interesting during the rain. The car was hydroplaning everywhere but everyone had the same problem. We had a little difficulty seeing because of the windshield wiper not working. Between the night, the rain and the windshield wiper it makes your heart go even faster.
