Reader Response to - "Americans Questioning Value of Free Trade"

Hello. I think Americans need to realize what free trade has done. Because of NAFTA many products (Kodak disposable cameras, Levis Jeans, etc...) that were once made here are now made in Mexico. Does the price drop to reflect cheaper labor? Rarely. Not only do we saw wages drop and jobs dry up, we also are cheated out of money through inferior products.

Another thing that is unfair is how trade does not reciprocate. While many "American consumers" buy Toyotas thousands of Toyotas each month, GM is lucky if they sell 500 cars a month in Japan. The Japanese government place hefty tariffs on American products. If the American government did that, accusations of protectionism would arise.
