Starfire Systems Recruits Darren Welson for Automotive Brakes
MALTA, N.Y.--Starfire Systems, Inc. announced the appointment of Darren Welson as Friction Products Engineer. Mr. Welson comes to Starfire from Goodrich Aerospace Corporation in Santa Fe Springs, California where he was Program Engineer for composite friction products for aircraft brakes and clutch materials. Mr. Welson’s primary objective as Friction Engineer at Starfire will be to contribute to the development and commercialization of Starfire’s STARBlade™ ceramic composite brakes for both OEM and aftermarket automotive applications. Specifically he will be supporting development programs recently awarded by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), expanding their investment in Starfire, and by a contract with a major global new car manufacturer.
At Goodrich, Mr. Welson focused his efforts on developing and supporting advanced fiber reinforced composites for both dry and wet friction applications. Mr. Welson earned a Chemical Engineering degree from California State University at Long Beach.
