MINDY’S MINUTE
Moorpark, Calif. - (January 17, 2007) Happy New Year, everyone! I hope
you all had a great Christmas and a very safe New Year’s celebration. I can’t
believe ’07 is already here and we are already through half of January!
In my last Minute of 2006, I stated I had preliminary plans to head to Tulsa
for the Chili Bowl. Well, I didn’t go and I’m almost glad because of the
vicious ice storm Tulsa endured last Friday. Instead, I was back to Orlando
for a trade show at the Orange County Convention Center. Until Sunday night,
I was on the road for almost two weeks straight. My journey started on
January 2, heading out to Ringers headquarters in Moorpark (Calif.), traveled home
to Indy for one day and then back to the airport to travel to Orlando. That
is all part of the job though and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
A good numbers of Ringers’ racers competed in the 21st annual O’Reilly
Chili Bowl Nationals including Cruz Pedregon, Donnie Lehmann and his stable of
cars, Wisconsin racers Chad DeSelle and Brandon Waelti, late model racer Brian
Birkhofer, Darrin Bolton, to name a few. Three Ringers’ supporters found
themselves in the A Main on Saturday night, with one of them picking up a podium
finish.
ARCA RE/MAX Series regular Justin Allgaier and NASCAR Busch Series driver
Jason Leffler both competed in Thursday’s events, with the top four
automatically transferring to the A Main on Saturday. Both of them were able to secure
spots in Saturday’s starting field with second and fourth finishes,
respectively.
But during Saturday’s feature, Leffler didn’t have the same kind of race
Allgaier did. Leffler pulled into the work area on lap seven and came back
out after the race had already begun putting him behind the eight ball the
remainder of the race, relegating him to a 22nd place finish.
Allgaier rolled to the green flag in the sixth position and was a factor to
contend with the entire race. He battled his way into one of the top three
positions on lap 43 and held onto finish there.
Ringers Pennsylvania racer Steve Buckwalter rallied from his 22nd starting
position to finish one spot shy of the top 10 in 11th.
There are only 21 days until the first race of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing
Series at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and I cannot wait! Things have
been very busy in preparation for the start of the season, such as moving into
a new office in Brownsburg, actually in the heart of “Nitro Alley,?? where I
will be working out of. There are also many more things in store for the
Road Show, but you will all have to wait and see what they are when we roll
into Pomona on February 8.
