New TX4 Taxis Take The Bump Out Of Speed Humps!

Taxi driver Nigel Harris is leading the field in Canterbury by treating passengers to their first ride in the latest London cab.

Nigel was one of the first drivers in the country to order the new TX4 from LTI main Dealer Smith & Humphrey. The latest version of the iconic vehicle was revealed to the world last October, retaining the distinctive taxi shape but with added features like anti-lock breaking, improved suspension and new engine.

And the new ride is so smooth one passenger even thought traffic calming measures near her home had been removed as the cab glided over them so effortlessly.

Nigel had only had his TX4 for a day when he phoned official LTI Vehicles dealer Smith and Humphrey, in Bexhill, East Sussex, to tell them how delighted he was.

“I phoned the dealer to tell them I loved the new TX4,” said Nigel, aged 51, of Canterbury, an owner-driver for eight years.

“I had a TX1 for six-and-a-half years and it has been fantastic. It is still in mint condition and I have had no problems.

“Then I went to try a TX4 and thought: ‘what have they done?!’ It still has the distinctive shape but the drive is totally different. Everything is even better.

“The smoothness of the drive, the way the engine responds even with the automatic gearbox, its handling and the acceleration have all been improved.

“I picked up one of my regular wheelchair customers in the TX4 for the first time the other day. Near her house is a road with lots of speed bumps. As we drove away, she said to me ‘Have they taken the bumps away?’ The suspension gave such a smooth ride over them she thought they had been removed!

“I have had lots of the other drivers asking me what it is like. I think others will follow my lead in Canterbury and get a TX4 now.

“It is the cream of taxis. It is purpose-built, fully-wheelchair accessible and looks and drives fantastically. I am very happy.”

Nigel bought a Silver specification TX4.
