Avorcor's SOA Helps VIP Auto Meet Changing Market Demands in Auto Parts After-market

STERLING, Va.--Avorcor's Service-Oriented Architecture for Supply-Chain and Logistics (SOA4SCL) has been instrumental in helping VIP Auto, Inc., an auto parts, tires and service retailer with 53 stores headquartered in Lewiston, Maine, respond strategically to the changing auto parts and tire marketplace while using an incremental, iterative approach.

According to Avorcor's CEO and leading SOA expert, JP Morgenthal, Typically, strategic changes in business processes require strategic changes in the business systems, thus resulting in long delays and, possibly, missed opportunities. With our software and approach, we deliver immediate and strategic changes while preserving current IT investments. This results in a faster return-on-investment and at a lower risk level for the customer.

The Avorcor solution provides VIP with a layer of software services that provide a common interface to their existing IBM i5-based retail backoffice systems, while also enabling the incremental development and delivery of new in-store, warehouse and backoffice business processes. We've been working with VIP since last February to modernize their existing applications, thus avoiding a complete systems replacement, yet facilitating the rollout of new business processes, said JP Morgenthal. This approach allows the business to more easily adapt to change, ensures that existing processes are not interrupted and introduces a significant amount of confidence in IT.

Avorcor has enabled us to turn the tactical replacement of aging warehouse scanners into a strategic asset for the company enabling real time access to inventory data, warehouse operational metrics, and rapid processing of special orders to our retail network, acknowledged VIP's VP of IT, Dan Grosz. Going forward we see continued significant benefits from the system in improving warehouse efficiency and supporting electronic commerce.

Avorcor will be exhibiting at the National Retail Federation conference at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC from January 14-16 in Booth #207.
