Tim Sauter gets Green Light for Preseason Test

Tim Sauter gets Green Light for Preseason Test

Veteran Driver Prepares for First Season in CTS

As the 2007 racing season approaches, Tim Sauter is busy along with
the rest of the Green Light Racing team preparing for the upcoming
Craftsman Truck Series season. The team is diligently updating the
fleet of Chevy Silverado’s with 2007 sheet metal and prepping them
for fresh paint and graphics for new sponsor Lester Buildings.

This weekend all of the NASCAR Truck Series teams are headed for
Daytona for three days of testing beginning on January 12th. Veteran
driver Tim Sauter will get his first runs in one of the new trucks at
the high banks of the Daytona International Speedway as the NASCAR
Craftsman Series participates in it’s portion of the Nascar
Preseason Thunder testing.

Following four seasons in which the Sauter has competed part-time in
the NASCAR Busch Series, expectations for a full season in the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series in 2007 are running high. “I’m looking
forward to this year, being in the shop the last week helping the
guys is really getting me more excited. There’s a lot of work to do
with updating these trucks from 2006 bodies to new 2007 Sheet metal,
this is one of the few teams I’ve driven for that does all of it’s
own body work in-house,?? said Sauter. “I see a good work ethic and
the efforts now will pay off later in the season.??

“Once we get to Daytona in February, you don’t get a lot of track
time,?? Sauter said. “I need to get as much track time as possible
to get a feel for how the truck handles in the draft, and how they
suck up on each other. From the truck races I’ve watched, they seem
to be pretty equal on the speedways, but I need to learn the
differences from the Busch cars I’ve been driving compared to the
boxier trucks.??

The Daytona test will also be the first time the Green Light team
hits the track with the security of two teams with full time sponsors
and a clear vision for the entire season. Co-owners Gene Christensen
and Bobby Dotter are excited about pairing a veteran driver like Tim
with an aggressive young driver like Chad McCumbie. “We are very
happy with the new Chevy bodywork. I think our trucks will run real
good at the speedways, the last couple of years we’ve run pretty
well at Daytona and Talladega without a lot of experience behind the
wheel so Tim’s past experience will benefit both of our teams,??
explained Christensen. “Testing is all about getting the trucks more
consistent, we have the tools and people to make that happen this
year.??

Christensen added, “Bobby and I could not be happier than to have
sponsors like Lester Buildings and Garmin/The GPS Store as our
partners for 2007. We are really exited that this year will be the
best year ever for Green Light Racing.??

Sauter is also scheduled to participate in a question and answer
session at the speedway on Saturday evening as part of the Fanfest
portion of Preseason Thunder.
