MUNCIE DRAGWAY BECOMES NHRA MEMBER TRACK
GLENDORA, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2007) - The NHRA announced today the addition
of Muncie Dragway to its roster of member tracks, beginning with the
2007 racing season. The Indiana track, located on Hwy. 67 between
Muncie and Albany, is owned and operated by Roger Plate.
Racers from the track's 2007 point series will qualify for the North
Central Division NHRA Summit Racing Series Finals to be held in
Indianapolis, Sept.14-16. Division champions from each of NHRA's seven
geographic divisions advance to the $118,000 NHRA Summit Racing Series
national championships held in conjunction with the Auto Club NHRA
Finals in Pomona, Calif., Nov. 1-4.
Muncie Dragway also will host NHRA special events including the National
DRAGSTER Challenge, NHRA King of the Track, and NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts
Jr. Dragster Challenge. Additionally, the track will continue to run
weekly racing programs, April through October, for high school, street
legal and sportsman bracket racing competitors. A number of special
events are being planned, including the annual Night of Fire.

racing programs and bringing their racers benefits that only NHRA can
offer."
Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning
body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23
national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA
has more than 80,000 members and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned
sportsman and bracket racing series' provide competition opportunities
for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by
offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing
Series, NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series and the NHRA Street Legal
Drags presented by AAA. The NHRA also offers the O'Reilly Auto Parts
Jr. Drag Racing League for youth ages 8 to 17.
