Pioneer Turns Heads at CES with Eye Catching Demonstration Vehicles
LAS VEGAS--Attendees at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas flock to Pioneer’s booth each year to check out the latest in-car electronics gear and the jaw dropping demonstration vehicles. This year will be no different as the company debuts two vehicles each with its own unique application of Pioneer’s mobile entertainment gear. The “Top Tuner Solstice” with its vicious green paint job is the work of a group of five Canadian tuners who went for a highly decorated, artistic look with multiple video screens. The apple red ’05 Scion tC from Sixth Avenue Electronics offers a more subdued, sophisticated dashboard, saving the big impact for the rear of the vehicle that houses an electrifying amp rack and subwoofer enclosure.
“No matter how much fun we have developing new products, the best part is always seeing them installed in a great demo vehicle. These vehicles reflect the advanced technologies we’re offering in the most outrageous applications,” said Larry Rougas, vice president of marketing and product planning for the mobile entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “They’re definitely show stoppers and I’ll bet they turn out to be the most photographed cars at CES.”
A Canadian team headed by car building superstar Keith Losier used an artistic flair in the ’06 Pontiac Solstice with highly modified body works and an incredible audio video system. The vehicle sports a 500 horsepower supercharged power plant engine, custom built wide body kit, 20-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels. Every inch of the interior was reworked in red suede and fiberglass to accommodate multiple video screens and a couple of six-disc DVD changers, offering great entertainment to CES attendees. Pioneer’s finest in-car technology including a navigation system, vehicle dynamics processor, Premier® amplifiers, subwoofers and speakers round out the A/V system in this showstopper.
Pioneer’s Scion tC built by Sixth Avenue Electronics features a hand–laid, wide-body ground effects kit, candy apple paint job, 19-inch wheels and a full-blown navigation, audio and video system. While the designers of the Solstice focused on the front of the vehicle, it’s the rear of this car that makes a statement with its customized amp rack and subwoofer enclosure. Two 10-inch Premier® component subwoofers are elevated in the middle of the fiberglass enclosure towards the rear window. This creates a coupling effect as well as flaunts the speakers’ modern cosmetic design. Four digital PRS amplifiers provide 4000 watts of crystal clear power. The amp rack itself is painted dark gray and air brushed for an electrifying effect in terms of both visual appeal and sound quality.
