Porsche Cars North America Reports 17 Percent Sales Increase in Canada in December
ATLANTA--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States and Canada, today announced that its December sales rose by 17 percent over the same period last year. In Canada, Porsche sold 97 new cars compared to 2005 sales of 83.
With December's results, Porsche sold a total of 1,868 new cars in 2006, nearly on par with 2005's all-time annual sales record of 1,926. Results in 2006 were led by the 911, with a record total of 657 compared to 546 in 2005, a percentage increase of 20 percent. Porsche's mid-engine sports cars, the Boxster and Cayman, enjoyed combined sales of 635 in 2006, a 42 percent increase over 2005.
"With 2005 being an all-time record in Canada, this year's results are especially gratifying with the Cayenne in its fourth model year and the new one to be revealed next week at the Detroit Auto Show and then launched at dealerships in March," said Peter Schwarzenbauer, PCNA President and CEO. "The strong momentum of our sports car sales sustained our continued growth, with the 911 enjoying its most successful sales year ever in North America."
In addition, Canada's dealers sold 20 Porsche Approved Pre-Owned cars, compared to 21 for the same period last year. For all of 2006, sales reached 354 compared to 2005's total of 289.
