Irwindale Speedway Announces 2007 Oval Track Schedule

NASCAR Grand National West Race and Fireworks Show; Drifting; Jesse James No Love Charity Ride and World Figure 8 Championship Among Schedule Highlights

IRWINDALE, Calif. (December 21, 2006) – Irwindale Speedway’s 2007 oval track schedule will commence on March 10, featuring 37 events with 19 different racing series competing in 136 races or competitions. The diverse schedule which is tentative pending final confirmation on a few details, features sanctioned events by NASCAR, D1 Grand Prix, Formula Drift and USAC.

The Speedway’s NASCAR Weekly Racing Series schedule kicks off the season on Saturday, March 24 with a full slate of racing activities. The schedule is highlighted by a special 4th of July (Wednesday) event featuring a 250 lap NASCAR Grand National West series race and an Auto Club Late Model race followed by a spectacular fireworks show. The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of October 19-21 pending approval by NASCAR and Toyota.

On November 10, business entrepreneur, racer and personality Jesse James will host his No Love motorcycle charity ride in conjunction with Irwindale Speedway’s World Championship Figure 8 race. The event will also feature motorcycle drag racing on the Speedway’s drag strip as well as a custom car show. Competitors who compete in the popular sport of Drifting identify Irwindale Speedway as the “House of Drift”. The facility will live up to that moniker by hosting four events in 2007. The D1 Grand Prix will conduct two events at the Speedway including the March 10 season opener and the D1 World Championships and All-Star Match with the date to be determined. Formula Drift will hold its Championship Finale at the Speedway on October 13. Kasey Kahne’s charity drift event which features some of Drifting’s top stars competing against Kahne and other NASCAR Nextel Cup star drivers has been tentatively scheduled for August 30.

USAC’s Sprint and Midget cars and the Ford Focus series will provide an entertaining night of racing during the 67th Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. The event is expected to attract a number of motor racing stars including those from NASCAR and USAC.

Tickets for all Irwindale Speedway events will be available for purchase beginning in late January, 2007. Irwindale Speedway is located on 500 Speedway Drive off of Live Oak Ave. and I-605, between the 10 and 210 freeways in Irwindale, Calif.
