FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BREMBO IS ONCE AGAIN THE CHOICE OF CHAMPIONS!
Another Record-Breaking Season for Brembo Brakes
ORLANDO, Fl., Dec. 14, 2006 - A number of legendary companies will celebrate major
motorsports anniversaries in 2007, but few, if any, will have achieved as much success as
Brembo has in its relatively short history.
Brembo and its racing subsidiaries are a fascinating success story just 30 years in the
making. Although founded in 1961, Brembo began racing in 1975 when Enzo Ferrari
entrusted the Bergamo-based, high-performance brake manufacturer with the task of fitting
its most prestigious Formula 1 car. Since then, Brembo has been at the forefront of the
motorsports arena, winning over 150 world championships, a record that is unprecedented in
the industry.
When one thinks of Brembo, sports car racing comes to mind immediately and rightfully so.
Historically, Brembo has dominated with the likes of Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari, Maserati
and Porsche, among others. Names like McNish and Beretta with Audi and Corvette were
Brembo champions in the American Le Mans Series, while Lamy and Lieb drove their Aston
Martin DBR9 and Porsche 996 respectively to class champions in the Le Mans Endurance
Series. Bartels and Bertolini were crowned FIA GT1 Champions with their Brembo-equipped
Maserati MC12, while Melo topped GT2 in his Ferrari F430.
And in the classic 24 Hours of Le Mans, Brembo walked away with all of the hardware in the
two prototype classes as the Audi R10 of Team Joest (P1) and the MG/Lola of Mallock
Racing (P2) stood atop the French podium.
Historically, Brembo has also had a strong presence in open-wheel racing, regularly winning
championships in Formula 1, Champ Car and IRL. This year, Newman/Haas Racing's
Sebastien Bourdais won his third-straight Champ Car Championship with Brembo brakes.
What is even more amazing is the breadth of Brembo's success. Who would have ever
thought that names like Jimmy Johnson (Nextel Cup), Kevin Harvick (Busch Series) and
Tony Stewart (IROC) would ever be considered Brembo champions? But the vast majority
of the NASCAR drivers in each of these series use Brembo braking systems and
components more often than not to get to victory lane.
Brembo's dominance in racing is not reserved for four-wheel vehicles only as Brembo has
helped the likes of Aprilla, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Suzuki and Yamaha win 13 motorcycle
championships in 2006 alone, including MOTOGP Champion Nicky Hayden.
Racing teams and manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz AMG and
Lamborghini, who demand the best, turn to the experts in braking technology and
performance: Brembo. The strong support and trusted relationships that Brembo has with
more than 31 original equipment manufacturers and hundreds of Championship Winning
Race Teams in F1, WRC, NASCAR, IndyCar and American LeMans, is based on the fact
that Brembo is the industry benchmark. There is no other company or product line on the
market that can match Brembo's level of technology and performance.
