SCCA Solo Director Tasha Marlow Steps Down After 20 Years
TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 11, 2006) - Sports Car Club of America announced this
week that longtime employee and current Solo Director Tasha Marlow will
be leaving the company at the end of the year.
Originally from Colorado, Marlow began working at the then Denver-based
SCCA National Office in 1986. Her first position was that of Divisional
ProRally Secretary with some additional responsibilities for the newly
acquired ProSolo program. A hands-on experience at a Solo event in
Shreveport, La. convinced Marlow she had found her calling, and through
her 20-year stint with SCCA Marlow has also served the Rally/Solo
department as Coordinator, Administrator, and Manager.
"It's not going to be easy saying goodbye to SCCA," Marlow said. "I want
to thank the members, especially the Solo community, for giving me the
opportunity to learn, grow and be a part of the SCCA family. It has
been a pleasure working with the SCCA staff, and although I admit there
were some trying times, all in all it has been a wonderful 20 years."
Marlow's exit comes just after she successfully managed the relocation
of The Tire Rack Solo National Championships from Forbes Field in
Topeka, Kan., to nearby Heartland Park Topeka. Marlow also oversaw the
move from Salina, Kan. to Forbes Field in 1995. Since she began working
with SCCA, Solo National entries have nearly doubled.
In addition to her success with Solo Nationals, Marlow was an integral
part of The Tire Rack Solo National Tour, guiding the program's
development from its first event in 1992 until just over a year ago.
"I would like to thank Tasha for all her contributions to SCCA," SCCA
Vice President of Program Development and Operations Howard Duncan said.
"She has every reason to be proud of her time with us and SCCA is a
better organization as a result of her efforts."
Next up in her professional journey, Marlow plans to study traditional
Chinese medicine and oriental body therapy at the Kansas College of
Chinese Medicine in Wichita.
Not all ties with SCCA have been severed however, a former E Stock
Ladies National Champion, Marlow plans to continue competing in Solo
events.
