Barrett-Jackson Names Steve Davis President
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Craig Jackson, CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, LLC, announced today that Steve Davis has been named president of the company.
“With the growth of Barrett-Jackson and the development of plans for our future business direction, it was important that I build out my executive management team to enable me to have clarity as visionary and leader for Barrett-Jackson,” said Craig Jackson. “The appointment of Steve as president is part of my overall strategic plan which has included, over the last year, the addition of Patrick van den Bossche as chief operating officer, and Virginia Llewellyn, with responsibility for legal affairs and corporate business development.”
In his new role, Davis will maintain responsibility for the company’s consignment operations and auction sales, and will assume additional duties related to the day-to-day management of the company’s operations and plans for growth of the business. Jackson will continue to have an active role as the CEO and chairman for the company and working with the executive management team.
“Steve’s expertise in this industry is unparalleled and has had a direct impact on the growth and success of Barrett-Jackson over the years,” added Jackson. “Steve has been involved with Barrett-Jackson as a consignor and customer for over twenty years and was instrumental in the company’s growth.”
Davis has been a member of the Barrett-Jackson senior management team since 2001 and his accomplishments include the addition of the West Palm Beach, Florida, venue which has grown to nearly $35 million in sales in 2006, and the tremendous growth of the company’s Scottsdale event, which exceeded $100 million in sales this year. Prior to Barrett-Jackson, he had senior level experience as an executive, owner, and entrepreneur at businesses including Valley Oak Auto and the Visalia Motorsport Council. His major achievements include being one of the originators and champions for the 1997 California Senate Bill 42, which exempted older cars from smog restrictions which preserved the collector car industry in the state. He has also served as special advisor to Carroll Shelby.
“I’m very passionate about the car collecting industry because we are not just selling cars, we are creating memories that last a lifetime,” said Davis. “Whether someone is buying or selling a car, there is always a story that comes with it, a memory, a lifelong goal that is being attained, a new set of experiences that will accompany that car forever. Only Barrett-Jackson provides the platform for the passion to be experienced by millions.”
A leading collector car industry expert, Davis is frequently quoted in leading publications including the New York Times, USA Today, Auto Week, and Motor Trend. He is also a contributor to a multitude of automotive publications with emphasis on market trends and the overall status of the collector car hobby.
