EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 6, 2006 -- Today Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp. , announced the nomination of Jon Beatty to become the eighth president of International Aero Engines (IAE). Beatty will succeed Mark King, who will return to Rolls-Royce in a senior leadership position.
Beatty joins IAE from Pratt & Whitney, where he most recently held the position of vice president, Operational Commercial Engines. He joined the company in 1999 as director, IAE V2500 programs.
"Beatty's leadership in Pratt & Whitney's Commercial Engines organization has been exemplary and I am very confident that IAE and V2500 customers will benefit from his experience," said Todd Kallman, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. "I want to also wish Mark King all the best in his new position. Under his leadership, IAE has continued to grow and prosper."
"I am looking forward to returning to the on-going success story that is IAE, especially at a time when the order book is so robust and a growing number of customers are choosing to back the V2500 with the aftermarket support available through V2500Select(SM)," Beatty said. "It is an honor to join IAE as Mark's successor and to have the opportunity to lead this international collaboration onto further achievements in the years ahead."
