Thor Receives Strong Order Input at Show; Obtains Over 400 New Dealers; November Retail RV Sales Up.
JACKSON CENTER, Ohio, Dec. 6, 2006 -- Thor Industries, Inc. the largest manufacturer of recreation vehicles and mid-size commercial buses announced today that it received $238 million in orders at the Louisville Recreation Vehicle Show last week. "Additional orders are expected to be received this week and we anticipate that our final order input will be the second highest ever," said Wade F. B. Thompson, Thor Chairman.
Last year, $292 million in orders were received. Thor increased its North American distribution network with the addition of over 400 dealers, easily a record. "These results are very gratifying in view of the tight RV market," Thompson added.
In November, Thor's retail RV sales were 5,190 units, up 6% from last year and were 91,946 units in the 11 months, up 7% according to our internal tracking system. Travel trailer and fifth wheel retail sales were up 6% and motor homes were up 9% in the month. Hurricane related units totaling 1,017 in the month are excluded from last year. Also, hurricane related units for the 11 months totaling 2,146 this year and 2,177 last year are excluded.
