Benefits of Awards.
(a). Sharjah International Airport - United Arab Emirates - "Global Air
Cargo Airport 1999 & 2005" Sharjah gained international exposure of their
award from the moment it was presented to them in the United Arab Emirates.
It was headline news on the front pages of all the daily papers, most
impressively The Gulf Times. Sharjah featured the award on the front page of
their website for the term of the award and in fact they still refer to it
in their press and news archive (www.shj-airport.gov.ae). They also included
the ITM logo on their corporate advertising and referred to it in press
editorial wherever relevant. When we first accredited Sharjah, they ranked
58th in the World's Air Cargo Airports. A year later when we came back to
look at Sharjah they had taken quite an incredible jump in the ratings to be
ranked as 29th. Their use of the ITM accreditation in the marketing of the
airport had considerable impact in this jump in ratings.
Please respond with your intentions to take part today.
(b). Hyundai - UK Automotive Company of the Year 1999
We were so impressed with Hyundai's extensive use of the ITM award that we
prepared a case study for future award winners to benchmark their PR
activities against. The following comment was sent to us by Wayne Darley
from Hyundai, as they concluded their year holding the award "UK Automotive
Company of the Year 1999
"Without doubt we Hyundai Korea and our dealer network have taken great
pride in being awarded the UK Automotive Company of the Year 1999 by the
ITM. The award has helped Hyundai reinforce its position as an up and
coming player in the UK automotive market as well as inject further positive
values into the brand. From our recent brand tracking study, our awareness
and consideration levels improved to their highest ever ratings and our
brand attributes scored higher than some other mainstream brands in the UK,
such as FIAT. No doubt it also contributed to our highest ever market share
of 2% recorded in October 1999." Mr. Wayne Darley, Hyundai.
(c). Inchcape Motors Retail - UK Automotive Retailer of the Year 1999/2000
"We are already at the leading edge of our industry - during the first half
of 2000, against a market increase of 2.3% our new car sales grew 18.5% in
the retail sector and our fleet sales were up 56.6% - that's a sound
performance, enhanced we believe by our consistent exposure of our award as
"Automotive Retailer of the Year". Mr. Robert Hazelwood, Managing Director,
Inchcape Motor Retail.
