TD Automotive Compressor Georgia Celebrates Grand Opening of New Facility

TOKYO, Nov. 30, 2006 -- TD Automotive Compressor Georgia, LLC (TACG) -- a joint venture between Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) and DENSO Corporation (DENSO) to produce car air-conditioning compressors in Jefferson, Ga. -- held a grand opening ceremony at its new 344,000-square-foot facility in Jefferson on November 30.

Nearly 200 guests attended the celebration including State of Georgia Lieutenant Governor-elect Casey Cagle, Consul General of Japan in Atlanta Ogawa Shoji, TICO President and CEO Tetsuro Toyoda, and DENSO President and CEO Koichi Fukaya.

As part of the grand opening celebration, TACG announced the establishment of the TACG Scholarship Fund with a gift of $200,000 to the North Georgia Community Foundation. The Fund will grant scholarships to students from Jackson County high schools who are going on to higher education at an accredited college, university or technical school.

TACG began producing variable displacement compressors in December 2005. Variable displacement compressors, which are the mainstream in Europe, can control refrigerant displacement according to driving conditions, resulting in better fuel economy.

"As demand is expected to increase in North America, TACG plans to annually produce 2 million units of variable displacement compressors by 2010," said TACG President Masaharu Suzuki.

TACG's variable displacement compressors are currently supplied for the Toyota Camry and Chrysler Sebring, and TACG expects to produce 950,000 units in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007.

TACG is the second joint venture, following Michigan Automotive Compressor, Inc. (MACI), between TICO and DENSO to produce vehicle air- conditioning compressors in North America. In 1990, MACI began producing fixed displacement compressors, which are the mainstream in the North American market.

TICO and DENSO plan to promote local production of both variable and fixed displacement compressors to respond to growing needs in the North American market.
