Micron Successfully Captures and Stores Video of Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, and CEO Wins Baja Challenge Class of Desert Race

BOISE, Idaho--Micron Technology participated in this years Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 to digitally capture video of the rugged off-road race using the companys innovative image sensor and advanced flash memory technology. In the end, Micron accomplished that feat while its chief executive officer, Steve Appleton, also won the contests Wide Open Baja Challenge class.

Appleton, driving in one of four vehicles operated by Micron executives in the Baja Challenge class, finished the race in 25 hours and 25 minutes, more than 30 minutes ahead of the next closest competitor in the class of 20 racers. Three of the four Micron team vehicles completed the race that started Nov. 16 in Ensenada, Mexico, and ended more than 1,000 miles south on the Baja California peninsula in La Paz.

During the race, Microns DigitalClarity image sensors and Lexar Professional CompactFlash memory cards specially outfitted for its vehicles successfully captured more than 140 hours of video from the race stored on 288 gigabytes of Lexar CompactFlash cards.
