Winning Season: UGS Technology Helps Hendrick Motorsports and Driver Jimmie Johnson Win the 2006 NASCAR(R) NEXTEL Cup Championship

Hendrick Motorsports Wins Sixth NEXTEL Cup Title and Becomes the Second UGS- Sponsored Racing Team, Along With KB Racing, to Win the 2006 Championship

PLANO, Texas, Nov. 28 -- UGS Corp., a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) products and services, today announced driver Jimmie Johnson and Hendrick Motorsports -- whose cars are developed with the help of UGS(R) digital product development technology -- won the 2006 NASCAR(R) NEXTEL Cup Championship. Johnson secured the championship in the final race of the season, the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

UGS previously announced that UGS-sponsored KB Racing won the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Pro Stock Championship for the fourth straight year (see separate release http://www.ugs.com/about_us/press/press.shtml?id=5123 ).

Johnson, who won five races this season, is only the second driver in race history to win both the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway and the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- the two biggest races -- in the same year. Johnson also won the UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway and Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway. In addition, Johnson, who drives the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, also won the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge at Lowe's Motor Speedway to take home the $1 million prize.

"It's everything I've ever wanted to be. It's been a long time since I've won a championship," said Johnson. "This means the world to me. Consistency week in and week out allowed us to win this championship and UGS has been there for us doing whatever it takes to help us win."

"This is a well deserved win for Jimmie and we are very proud of the whole team for this great accomplishment," said Rick Hendrick, owner, Hendrick Motorsports. "Winning a championship is a testament to the quality and skill of the people and technology that are a part of our racing team, and UGS is part of that team. We are thrilled to have UGS as a partner in this victory."

"UGS congratulates Hendrick Motorsports and Jimmie Johnson on winning the championship," said Dave Shirk, executive vice president of Global Marketing for UGS. "Winning a championship requires a commitment to success and the ability to stay on course, qualities which are at the core of Hendrick Motorsports and UGS. UGS' mantra is to never let a customer fail and we strive to help every UGS technology user drive into victory lane, on the track or in the board room."
