HUNT, KAISER CAP WESTERN SPRINT TITLES
WITH IRWINDALE "TURKEY NIGHT" VICTORY
Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. and car owner Alan Kaiser of Vallejo, Calif. put the cap on their 2006 USAC Western Sprint Car championship season with a 30-lap feature victory Thursday night at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. They will collect their championship awards Jan. 19 at the USAC "Night of Champions" in Indianapolis and Jan. 26 at the Western Awards Banquet in Arcadia, Calif.
Hunt led all 30 laps of the "Turkey Night" 30-lapper in the Thompson Toyota/Paul Oil Company Eagle to beat Mike Murgoitio, Tracy Hines, Bradley Galedrige and Jessica Helberg.
NASCAR veteran Casey Mears finished 16th in Thursday's Sprint car feature. Former series champion Kody Swanson was the fastest of 37 qualifiers.
Hunt's final point margin over series runner-up Murgoitio was 105.
