The award will be presented live during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Awards Ceremony, Dec. 1, on TNT. The dramatic moment joins Round 1 winner "Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth tangle on and off the track at Bristol" in the final round. Also available to fans for selection as the NEXTEL Most Dramatic Moment are the following three moments: * Bill Lester becomes the first African American to qualify for a NEXTEL Cup race since 1986. * Jeff Burton's title hopes go up in smoke as he blows an engine in Martinsville. * Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 Lowe's team capture their first NEXTEL Cup Championship. The voting process for the 2006 moment changed to empower fans with a louder voice in deciding the award. The process included an initial round of voting throughout the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup that decided two finalists leading into the culminating event on Dec. 1. Throughout the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, fans could access exclusive coverage and commentaries through Web-enabled Sprint or Nextel handsets. Fans can still place their vote for their favorite dramatic moment and vote as often as they like.
