Moorpark, Calif. - (November 21, 2006) I still can’t believe both the NASCAR and NHRA seasons are over. Where did the year go?! It is only 11 weeks until the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series starts back up at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif. Several Ringers racers went out in good standing in their final races of the season, with Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Racing No. 77 team being the highest finishing in all three series. Gaughan took his No. 77 South Point Resort Dodge to the front on a couple different occasions in the Ford 200 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He even battled eventual race winner Mark Martin for the first position toward the end of the race, before having to settle for second place. Gaughan’s second place finish was his best finish on the season and also his best finish since 2005. He finished the season 15th in the Craftsman Truck Series points.

The Ringers team of Billy Ballew Motorsports put Mike Wallace in the seat of the No. 15 this weekend. Wallace brought along Miccosukee Resorts and Geico to adorn the Chevrolet. After qualifying 29th, Wallace was able to improve upon his starting position and finish 22nd. With the number of different drivers owner Ballew put in the truck this year, Ballew himself was able to finish 18th in the owner point standings on the year. While No. 06 owner Jack Roush only plans to field DriverX by Ringers racing gloves supporting driver Todd Kluever in a partial schedule next year, Kluever showed on Saturday that he is fully deserving of a full time ride in the Busch Series.

After a mediocre qualifying effort with an 18th, Kluever rallied back to put his No. 06 3M Ford Fusion in the top 10 for the final time this year. His ninth place finish in the Ford 300 on Saturday was his fourth top-10 finish of the year. Kluever finished 17th in Busch points on the season. Kluever also earned his first Busch Series pole at the second Nashville race. UnderX by Ringers supporter Jason Leffler capped of his season with a 19th-place finish and a 13th place finish in Busch Series points. He collected three top five’s and three top 10 finishes on the year, along with two poles coming at Phoenix and Richmond early in the year.

Leffler is entered in the annual Turkey Night midget race at Irwindale Speedway slated for Thanksgiving (Thursday) night. He looks to add his name to the record books as a three-time champion, with the likes of Billy Boat and Ron Shuman.

After coming off two top-15 finishes, an eighth for Kurt Busch and 15th for Newman, at Phoenix, the Penske Racing South team had a rough finish on the year. Busch had two spins very early on in Sunday’s Ford 400, the second relegating his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge behind the wall and finishing 43rd. His teammate Ryan Newman had two separate incidents with newcomer Juan Pablo Montoya. The first one resulted in Newman spinning; the second resulted in Montoya hitting the wall hard, crushing the fuel cell and bursting into flames, which produced the red flag. Many people speculated that Newman was “ retaliating?? from the first incident involving Montoya, but Newman stated otherwise. However, he and crew chief Matt Borland were called to the Nextel Cup hauler post race to discuss the matter further. Newman was scored 23rd. The Penske Racing teammates finished 16th (Busch) and 18th (Newman), respectively, in the 2006 driver standings.
