Something For Everyone; Formula Mazda, S2000 and H Production Hit The Airwaves This Week

TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 20, 2006) -Sports racing, production and formula car racing are all on tap for week three of Runoffs programming on SPEED, treating race fans to a veritable three-hour buffet of racing action.

Starting at 12 p.m. (EST), James Goughary, of Jupiter, Fla., leads the Formula Mazda pack to the green flag at Heartland Park Topeka. Being a three-time Runoffs runner-up, and son of two-time GT-2 National Champion Jim Goughary Sr., Goughary has a lot riding on his shoulders in 2006. A tight battle behind Goughary, between Mike Anderson, of Anza, Calif., and Scott Rettich, of Camden, Ohio, might be just what Goughary needs to sneak away from the rest of the field and claim his first Runoffs victory.

Next up at 1 p.m. (EST), is the always-fierce S2000 battle. After setting a blistering lap in qualifying, Matthew DiRenzo, of Medford, N.J. paces the field through two waved-off starts before the green flies. DiRenzo will have to fend off a charging Mike Mercer, of Aurora, Colo., and four-time S2000 National Champion John Fergus, of Powell, Ohio, if he hopes to win his first national title.

H Production caps off the afternoon at 2 p.m. (EST). Craig Chima, of Akron, Ohio, starts alongside 2004 and 2005 H Production Champion Tom Feller, of Clarkston, Mich. Chima's qualifying time was over a second faster than defending champ Feller, and Chima proves it was no fluke, resetting fast lap throughout the race. But will Chima's sheer speed be enough to thwart a Feller hatrick?
