Washington DC November 17, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said yesterday, "...we(Nissan USA) will need more capacity in the future, Nissan's "sales forecast is higher than our capacity, so at a certain point in time we're going to have to make a decision."
It is unclear yet how the automaker will go about adding additional capacity, but Ghosn did not rule out acquiring plants from shuttered Ford and GM plants, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Ghosn also said his companies currently have no intentions to approach other automakers for alliance talks, reports Automotive News.
"Next time, if we take the initiative, we'll make sure our shareholders want it," Ghosn said. "The timing will have to be good for us. Right now the timing is not right from our side. We are not talking to anyone."
