Phoenix Motorcars' All Electric Sport Utility Truck Powered by UQM Propulsion System to Be Exhibited at the San Francisco Auto Show
FREDERICK, Colo., Nov. 17, 2006 -- UQM TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (AMEX:UQM) , a developer of alternative energy technologies, announced today that Phoenix Motorcars, Inc. will be exhibiting its all electric sport utility truck (SUT) powered by a UQM(R) propulsion system at the San Francisco International Auto Show which begins today and runs through November 26th. The zero emission, freeway-ready Phoenix SUT will be featured in the AAA Greenlight(TM) Initiative Showcase in booths 1075, 1076 and 1077 of the Moscone Center where the show is being held.
The Phoenix all electric SUT is powered by a 100 kW UQM(R) electric propulsion system which produces over 400 ft-lbs of torque, accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 10 seconds and operates at peak system efficiencies of over 94%. The vehicle's 35k/Wh NanoSafe(TM) battery pack supplied by Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. can be recharged in less than 10 minutes using Altair's proprietary technology and provides safe power and energy for the vehicle. In a typical fleet duty cycle the vehicle will travel up to 130 miles between charges. The vehicle is expected to qualify as a Type III ZEV in California.
"The Phoenix SUT is an excellent example of how entrepreneurial companies can collaborate and apply exciting new technologies to develop an environmentally friendly zero emission vehicle that delivers exceptional performance and style together with the performance and economy of operation that commercial fleet operators demand," said William G. Rankin, UQM Technologies' President and Chief Executive Officer.
