Exa Announces Major Software Release of PowerFLOW and Two New Products - PowerCOOL and PowerTHERM
BURLINGTON, Mass., Nov. 17, 2006 -- Exa(R) Corporation, the only provider of computer-aided engineering [CAE] and computational fluid dynamics [CFD] simulation software and services capable of supporting real design processes, today announced the immediate availability of PowerFLOW(R) 4 and the inaugural release of PowerCOOL(TM) and PowerTHERM(TM). Five years in the making, PowerFLOW 4 boasts enhanced versions of its unique LBM (lattice Boltzmann) physics resulting in more predictive, consistent and accurate results on even the most complex CAD models in industry-leading turnaround timeframes. Exa's newest software applications, PowerTHERM and PowerCOOL, enhance the software suite by providing full heat transfer functionality including conduction, convection, radiation and modeling of heat exchangers in a fully integrated environment within PowerFLOW. Due to these new releases, Exa's customers now have the opportunity to perform simulations using a common, high-fidelity geometry model across multiple applications including aerodynamics, aeroacoustics and thermal management - something no other CAE/CFD company can claim.
Mission: TotalANALYSIS(TM)
Exa's singular goal is to develop products that seamlessly integrate and revolutionize design and engineering processes allowing our customers to deliver higher quality and better engineered products faster. With this in mind, PowerFLOW 4 is Exa's next generation of software in its goal to provide TotalANALYSIS solutions. TotalANALYSIS refers to a single suite of easy-to- use, integrated software solutions that are capable of providing complete results for aerodynamics, thermal management and aeroacoustics in product development timeframes - a significant savings in time and money for its customers.
Already implemented at many global automotive manufacturers, Exa's suite of software solutions have helped those in this technology-driven industry study and improve their vehicles using one geometry for simulations that offer results on everything from lift and drag, to HVAC, component temperatures and wind noise. By significantly streamlining engineering and development, Exa's TotalANALYSIS approach offers a clear alternative to existing physical test processes in an industry where delays cost millions.
PowerFLOW 4 product features/benefits include: -- Improved Physics - fundamental improvement of Exa's unique LBM physics that enhances its core ability to easily and accurately simulate extremely complex CAD models -- Aeroacoustics - better prediction of high frequencies -- Expanded Temperature Range - allows users to simulate a full range of temperatures encountered in thermal management simulations -- Accelerated Temperature Solver - faster performance for thermal simulations PowerCOOL product features/benefits include: -- New analysis tool that enables the modeling of heat transfer between cooling airflow and heat exchangers in the vehicle underhood region PowerTHERM product features/benefits include: -- New solution for the simulation of conduction in solids and radiation between hot surfaces, a key requirement for the reliable prediction of underhood and underbody surface temperatures -- Allows for fully integrated coupling of the PowerFLOW convection solver with radiation and conduction effects National Science Foundation Support
Research on hybrid lattice Boltzmann techniques leading to the development of thermal prediction capabilities in PowerFLOW and PowerCOOL was supported by the National Science Foundation.
