Todd Bowsher Season Review

(11/16/06 - Springfield, OH) - For Todd Bowsher, driver of the familiar #21 Ford on the ARCA RE/MAX Series circuit, the 2006 race season kicked off much like every other for the past several years, at Daytona International Speedway back in February. However, following that event and heading into the second race on the schedule at the Nashville Superspeedway everything would change. Todd's father and Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports owner Jack Bowsher passed away from a heart attack on April 8, just five days before the ARCA cars were scheduled to enter the track at Nashville.

"Making the decision to go ahead and race at Nashville was the easiest decision to make and I think everyone on this team will agree with me." Said Bowsher, "We all just knew we had to do it because that's what my Dad would have done and that's what he would have wanted us to do, he wouldn't have been happy with the time we spent away from the shop for the funeral and arrangements, that's just the way he was and we all knew it." Bowsher added, "Although the decision was easy actually doing it was probably the hardest thing we've ever done, not just for me, but for all of us, I think we all knew that by taking that initial step to go to Nashville was going to set off the most challenging season that we have all ever faced, but we all knew it had to be done and that's the way Dad would have done it."

Nashville only produced a 41st place finish for Todd and the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports Team as 25 laps into the race he was spun and wrecked by another car.

With the early season gearing up, including short tracks speedways and the triangle of Pocono Raceway, Bowsher managed strong runs at them all and led laps at the Salem Speedway in Indiana.

By the time mid-June had rolled around it was clear that the determination of Todd and the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports team was not going to let up. Todd and the team decided it was time to pay tribute to Jack and did they in a big way. When the #21 Ford was unloaded at Michigan International Speedway in June the car reflected the paint scheme and decals of the #21 that Jack Bowsher drove to 3 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championships back in the 1960s.

From seasons beginning throughout the first trimester that elusive Top-10 finish had managed to elude the Bowsher team, bringing home plenty of 11th place finishes but never being able to break into the Top-10. However, that would not hold true at one of Todd's favorite race tracks, the Salem Speedway, Todd charged through the field and grabbed the 9th place finish in the Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic in September.

With only two events remaining on the 2006 schedule, Talladega Superspeedway and the new Iowa Speedway Bowsher was on the fast track to another Top-10 Points Finish. The Food World 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway saw a 16th place lead lap finish for Bowsher, while the Iowa Speedway Prairie Meadows 250 handed Bowsher and the team another 16th place finish.

Todd came to seasons end in the 6th place in ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Driver Point Standings.

"None of us, I mean the whole of Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports could have made it through this season without the help and support of all of our sponsors, family, friends and fans, the support from all of these people has been overwhelming and we all really appreciate everything everyone has done to support us all this entire year." Bowsher said, "We all knew we had a lot of support but didn't really know how much until we really needed it and we really needed it this year, Thanks to all of you."

All in all the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series season was the most demanding on all of the competitors, but striving to conclude the year in true Bowsher fashion was one of the greatest accomplishments that Todd Bowsher and the entire Bowsher family and team have to their credit. Definitely in true Jack Bowsher style.
