New Camaro SuperSpeedster Debut!
Media Friends:
SuperSpeedster SHINES AT SEMA!
Debuted at the MeguiarÕs exhibit at SEMA 2006,
the coachbuilt 700-plus horsepower, two-seat
Camaro SuperSpeedster is the Flagship of
Baldwin-MotionÕs SuperSeries.
Handcrafted by artisans, the SuperSpeedster is a
fully tubbed, air-conditioned wide body 1969
Camaro with power-operated doors and (fiberglass)
hood and tonneau.
Its sculptured steel Camaro body sits on a full
spine-type tubular steel chassis fitted with
four-wheel independent suspension, signature
Motion independent rear with Dana 60 limited-slip
center section, Penske coil-over shocks, power
rack & pinion steering and giant six-piston
Baer/Motion disc brakes.
Power for this extreme Supercar comes from a
roller-cammed, Motion-built 540-inch,
all-aluminum big-block, topped off with Kinsler
Cross Ram fuel injection. On a fully calibrated
chassis dynamometer at Aerocomp Racing, Sanford,
FL, the Motion Yellow SEMA showcar generated 522
rear wheel horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 534 foot
pounds of torque at 5,000 rpm!
ÒOur Motion 540 big-block makes power through
6,200 rpm. However tests were limited to 5,500
rpm as we couldnÕt keep the Camaro from climbing
out of the dynoÕs rollers,Ó
said Joel ÔMr. MotionÕ Rosen.
ÒHorsepower at the flywheel is 700-plus and
throttle response is spectacular. We thought it
was going to pull the tie-downs out of the
ground!Ó added Motion CEO, Larry Jaworske, who
worked with Rosen during the dyno tuning session.
Baldwin-MotionÕs Flagship Camaros feature
big-block engines set back 13 inches, resulting
in a true front/mid engine layout and outstanding
handling and braking. The SEMA showcarÕs
transmission is five-speed Tremec hooked up to
the independent rear via a custom carbon fiber
driveshaft.
Joel ÒMr. MotionÓ Rosen and Tom Cress, President,
LINGENFELTER Performance Engineering announced a
strategic partnership (Partners In Power) at SEMA
2006. A new Signature Series of
naturally-aspirated and ÒboostedÓ
Lingenfelter/Motion Dyno-Proven Big-Block engines
will power all Baldwin-Motion specialty vehicles.
They will also be available as turnkey
powerplants exclusively from Motion.
All SuperSeries Camaro interiors are custom
tailored for the owner, much like Savile Row
made-to-measure or "bespoke" suits. Purchasers
are ÒfittedÓ during the build process for
placement of pedals, steering wheel, seat and
billet shift lever.
The mid-series Corvette influenced the design of
the SEMA showcarÕs dashboard. It features dual
pods with engine-turned stainless steel panels
fitted with custom instruments, air conditioning
vents and a passenger assist grip. Mounted
between the pods is the rear-view video screen
that replaces
a traditional mirror
ÒOur SuperSpeedster has no side windows, no top,
and absolutely no competition in the marketplace.
ItÕs the most extreme Musclecar you can buy and
drive on the street,Ó said Motion President, Joel
Ehrenpreis at its SEMA introduction.
Credit for handcrafting the SuperSpeedster goes
to Phil Somers and his crew at American Super Car
Inc, Hudson, FL, MotionÕs exclusive coachbuilder.
Phil also built the Camaro SuperCoupe, winner of
the GM Design Award at SEMA 2005
Baldwin-MotionÕs SS-427 ($169,000), Phase III 540
($189,000) and coachbuilt SuperCoupe ($427,000)
and SuperSpeedster ($495,000) Camaros are signed
by Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen and fully documented
with paperwork and build photography.
Each vehicle is built to order using a premium
ÒdonorÓ
with original Chevrolet VIN numbers and can be
registered
and insured worldwide.
